About the Department

  •       The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering was established in the year 2007. The Department offers full time two year M.E. degree programmes in Applied Electronics, Communication Systems and VLSI Design and the same courses are offered as three year M.E. programmes in Part-time mode.

The Department is equipped with excellent infrastructure and state of the art equipments to explore the technological challenges in the areas of Electronics, Digital Communication Systems, VLSI Design, Digital Signal Processing, Digital Image Processing, ASIC Design, RF and Wireless Communications.

“Education is not the learning of facts, but the training of the mind to think”.

    - Albert Einstein.

Labs are the prima foci of any department as they help students to see the two dimensional circuits and concepts represented in their books as three dimensional functional units to work and learn with. The Department of ECE has three labs namely Applied Electronics Lab, Communication System Lab and VLSI Design lab exclusively for M.E. Applied Electronics, M.E. Communication Systems and M.E.VLSI Design students.

The Applied Electronics Lab is equipped with MSP 430 Microcontroller, Beagle bone black board, MSP 430 F2013 starter kit, TMS320C 6678 Multicore DSP Processor Kit and Application boards for implementing both basic and advanced experiments. In addition to that the lab is equipped with state of art equipments which include 20 Workbenches each consisting of inbuilt CRO, Function Generator, RPS, Ammeters and Voltmeters. Also 25 Desktop Computers have been interfaced with the Workbenches and they are loaded with EDA tool like MultiSim and Tina TI.

The Communication Systems Lab is equipped with Optical Fiber kits, Analog and Digital Communication kits, TMS320C 6678 Multicore DSP Processor Kit with Code Composer Studio Software and basic trainer Kits namely TMS320C5416 and TMS320C6713. In addition to that the lab is equipped with CAD FEKO software for RF and antenna design.

The VLSI Design lab was established with a motive of encouraging research activities for PG students and Research scholars. The lab consists of 40 Desktop Computers loaded with software’s such as Micro wind, Mentor Graphics, Quartus-II & Active HDL, Keil, MP lab, IAR Workbench and Modelsim. In addition to that, the lab has basic and advanced ALTERA boards namely DE0, DE1, DE2 and DE3 with logic analyzer for real time verification.
